Trying to be a healthy drummer is should be a number one priority for many reasons.
Health is often taken for granted
until it starts to become not so great. Not only is your drumming
directly affected by your health but also every aspect of your life.
You may be on your way to fame and fortune, have a great gig or band, or just
love playing the drums. However, if your health starts to decline so does enjoyment
of all the things you love, including music.
Now please understand, I'm no health expert by any means. But if you do your own
research you'll find that the basics presented here are common sense combined

- Drink plenty of pure water, not from the tap.
- Learn to breathe deeply, oxygen is vital.
- Eat lots of green foods, fruits, veggies and fresh juices.
- Avoid animal products and junk food.
- Do not smoke, drink, or drug yourself into oblivion.
- Get adequate rest.
- Protect your hearing, a musicians #1 asset.
- Have a great attitude and sense of humor.
- Avoid watching and reading anything negative.
We have all seen way too many famous drummers and musicians
end their lives or careers early from abusing themselves
and wrecking their health. You know many of the big names.
You might even have friends on that path. Be acutely aware of
the bigger picture of what is really important to your happiness
and success.
Life and music is a beautiful gift and should be enjoyed to the fullest
in optimum health. The wonderful benefit to taking care of yourself
is that you will be a better more energetic drummer. Not to mention
feeling great when you're doing everything else!
